Twilight of the Gods Vienna

Götterdämmerung Opera Tickets — The Ring Finale at the Vienna State Opera

The most colossal conclusion in all of art: Andreas Schager as Siegfried, Camilla Nylund as Brünnhilde, and Günther Groissböck as the villainous Hagen deliver a shattering Götterdämmerung that brings Wagner's Ring cycle to its cataclysmic end. Pablo Heras-Casado conducts Sven-Eric Bechtolf's production. The complete Vienna Ring — with Michael Volle, Schager, Nylund, Nigl, and Heras-Casado — has been hailed by critics as one of the finest Ring ensembles currently performing anywhere.

Siegfried's betrayal through a magic potion, his murder, the majestic Funeral March, and Brünnhilde's Immolation — in which she rides into the funeral pyre, returns the Ring to the Rhine, and brings about the destruction of Valhalla — represent the absolute summit of Wagner's art. The final bars, as the Redemption through Love motif soars above the orchestra, may be the most transcendent moment in all music. Five and a half hours of overwhelming operatic power.
