Das Rheingold Opera Tickets — Wagner's Ring at the Vienna State Opera
The Ring des Nibelungen at the Vienna State Opera begins with Das Rheingold — the monumental prologue to the greatest work of art ever conceived. Pablo Heras-Casado conducts Sven-Eric Bechtolf's timeless production (sets: Rolf Glittenberg), with Michael Volle as Wotan, Georg Nigl as Alberich, Gerhard Siegel as Mime, and Matthäus Schmidlechner as the fire god Loge.
From the famous 136 bars of shimmering E-flat major — depicting the eternal flow of the Rhine — through Alberich's theft of the gold and the gods' magnificent entry into Valhalla over a rainbow bridge, Das Rheingold unfolds in one continuous sweep of approximately two and a half hours. This is the gateway to the Ring: miss it and you miss the mythological foundation for everything that follows. A bucket-list experience for any music lover.
