La Fanciulla del West Torre del Lago

Tickets for La Fanciulla del West at the Puccini Festival 2026

La Fanciulla del West, Giacomo Puccini's most adventurous and innovative opera, is presented in two exclusive performances at the Gran Teatro all'aperto Giacomo Puccini during the 72nd Puccini Festival. An opera that transports audiences to the California Gold Rush, among miners, outlaws and an impossible love.

Minnie, the courageous and independent owner of the "Polka" saloon, falls in love with the mysterious Dick Johnson, who turns out to be the bandit Ramerrez. In a poker game that becomes a metaphor for life and death, Minnie gambles everything to save the man she loves. A drama of redemption, justice and love that defies the conventions of its time.

Inspired by David Belasco's play The Girl of the Golden West, the opera reveals a bold Puccini experimenting with modern harmonies and a musical language that anticipates the twentieth century.

Rarely performed compared to Puccini's other operas, La Fanciulla del West is a hidden gem waiting to be rediscovered. Don't miss these two exclusive evenings — a chance to see an opera that reveals a surprising and courageous Puccini.
