Simon Stone's visually stunning modern production reimagines Verdi's most popular opera for the Instagram age: Violetta is a glamorous influencer with millions of followers, her own perfume line, and a secret illness. Bob Cousins' sleek stage design and Zakk Hein's lavish video projections create a world of Parisian glitz and glamour that makes the tragedy hit even harder. Kristina Mkhitaryan β fresh from her triumph as Manon β stars as Violetta, with the rising Spanish tenor Xabier Anduaga as Alfredo and Artur RuciΕski as Giorgio Germont. Giampaolo Bisanti conducts. Verdi's La Traviata features some of the most famous music in all opera: the "Brindisi" drinking song, Violetta's blazing Sempre libera, and the devastating Act III farewell Addio del passato.
