After a ten-year hiatus, Jean-Pierre Ponnelle's legendary production of Mozart's Le nozze di Figaro returns to the Vienna State Opera — the same staging immortalized in the famous Karl Böhm film recording that has introduced millions to this opera. Adam Fischer conducts a fresh young cast: Huw Montague Rendall as Count Almaviva, Serena Sáenz as Susanna, and Riccardo Fassi as Figaro.

Widely regarded as the greatest opera ever composed, Le nozze di Figaro (1786) is Mozart and Da Ponte's revolutionary comedy of love, class, and forgiveness — a "crazy day" in which servants outwit their master, a Countess mourns her fading love, and a page discovers desire for the first time. From Figaro's defiant Se vuol ballare to the Countess's sublime Dove sono and the miraculous final scene of forgiveness, every moment is musical perfection.
